Celebrating D-Day

Who's celebrating?

We at The Girl Who Wore Freedom aim to celebrate alongside our French family and our veterans who fought during the Battle of Normandy every day, but especially this D-Day. Check out the links below to see all the ways you can celebrate this year!

The kick-off event to a 2-month long tradition of celebrating D-Day in France will be broadcasting live from the Utah Beach Monument Commemoration starting June 6. Due to the public health situation, there will be reduced numbers present, but you can still join in on the fun virtually! D-Day Live’s Facebook is linked below, but you can also find the celebrations  on Instagram and YouTube. If you do plan to join the celebrations remember that Normandy is 6 hours ahead of EDT, so if you plan to watch the ceremony live, please plan for 5:15 am EDT.

Celebrate in Style!

Purchasing The Girl Who Wore Freedom merchandise is a great way to help us fund our film. Plus, you can stock up on gear to keep the celebration going beyond D-Day. By supporting our film, you help us continue honoring our veterans by educating everyone about just how kind, welcoming, and significant the citizens of Normandy are.

Its more than just one day of celebration...

While June 6th does mark the famous day when Allied troops arrived in Normandy, it is not the only day we honor the sacrifices endured during the Battle of Normandy. The Battle of Normandy lasted throughout the summer so there are celebrations through the Normandy area through August. D-Day Live will continue to cover these events so stay tuned!
